Privacy Policy

Overview

Resume Tailor ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and disclose information when you use Resume Tailor, including the web app, the static GitHub Pages version, and any Android or iOS app released under the same product name.

Resume Tailor is designed as a local workflow product. We aim to keep your information on your device unless a feature requires data to be sent to a third-party service that you choose to use.

What We Collect

Personal data

We do not intentionally collect or store your personal information, such as your name or email address, on our own servers simply for using the app.

Resume and job data

• Resume text and files you upload or paste.
• Job descriptions, job posting text, or job files you upload or paste.

In local workflow use, these materials are processed on your device and, when needed for generation, sent directly to the AI provider you selected. We do not claim ownership of that content.

API keys

API keys for supported AI providers are intended to stay on your device. In Android builds, they may be stored using Android secure local storage such as EncryptedSharedPreferences. They are not meant to be transmitted to our own servers.

Optional integrations and technical data

• Basic request and device data handled by the platforms and service providers you use, such as browser, operating system, and network metadata.
• If you enable Notion features in supported builds, the content needed to log applications and generated outputs may be sent to your Notion workspace.
• If ads are enabled in a mobile build, advertising providers may collect data such as device or advertising identifiers under their own policies.

How We Use Information

• To read your resume and the target job description.
• To generate a tailored resume and cover letter.
• To create downloadable PDFs.
• To save application history or generated output to Notion when you enable that feature.
• To operate, maintain, and secure the app.

Third-Party Services

Resume Tailor does not sell your personal information.

• AI providers: When you generate a tailored resume or cover letter, your data may be sent to the AI provider you configured, such as Google, OpenAI, or Anthropic. Their handling of that data is governed by their own privacy policies and terms.
• Notion: If you turn on Notion logging, the app sends the relevant job and output data to your Notion workspace.
• Google AdMob: If a mobile build displays ads, Google AdMob may collect and use information such as your device's advertising ID to show ads, including personalized ads where applicable. See Google's Privacy Policy.
• External links: The app may link to job boards, GitHub, or other external sites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those third-party websites.
• Platform providers: Hosting, app-store, browser, operating-system, and infrastructure providers may process technical data needed to deliver the service.

Your use of third-party providers is also governed by their own terms and privacy policies.

Permissions

• Internet access: Used to communicate with AI providers, optional integrations, and advertising services if those are enabled.
• Storage or document access: Used so you can pick resume files, job descriptions, or export generated files on your device.

Where Processing Happens

The GitHub Pages build runs in the browser. In that version, your content and API key are sent directly from your device to the provider you choose. The project does not run a separate backend for that static page.

Local, Android, and iOS builds may process files on-device and may also transmit content to third-party services that you enable, including AI providers and Notion.

Data Retention

• The static GitHub Pages build is designed so your content is processed in your browser and is not stored by a project-operated server.
• Local builds store generated files on your device in the locations used by the app.
• If you send data to an AI provider or to Notion, retention is subject to that provider's policies and your account settings with that provider.

Data Security

We use reasonable security measures for the product and support local storage approaches intended to protect sensitive data, including encrypted storage for API keys where supported on the device platform. Still, no method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure.

Children

Resume Tailor is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided information through the app, contact us and we will review the request.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time when the product changes, when a new platform build is released, or when store and legal requirements change. The effective date at the top of this page shows the current version. You should review this page periodically for updates.
